Many people are not familiar with the name Hitach in GPS business. The company has introduced two new GPS navigation devices exclusively in Australia – the MP401 and the MMP 501. Both the GPS systems have widescreen display, one of them being 4 inch and the other being 5 inches.

The MMP501 model also offers AV IN connectivity which enables the usage for the 5 anti glare screen for watching DVDs. Additionally, the Bluetooth system equipped with the GPS allows to connect your cell phone in order to receive and make hands free calls. They have a built in SiRF Star III receiver and software pre-installed that enables fixed camera alerts and speed zone warnings together with detour memory. However, the 2500mAh battery of the GPS has not been yet ensured whether it is capable to sustain such a wide screen gadget for longer hours.

The MMP401 version of the GPS has similar features but a 4-inch screen, 900mAh capacity and no Bluetooth feature. The prices for the MMP501 and MMP401 are 949 AUD and 609 AUD respectively in the market. It is expected that once the second generation of sat nav systems, MMP501B and MMP401B comes out into the market around mid-August, the prices will be lowered.
