HortiBot To Reduce Herbicide Usage

Today’s theme is apparently on horticulture and GPS, and once again we have come across another way that GPS is being implemented to make things a little better. This time around, the issue is on finding and removing weeds. The aim is to try to reduce herbicide usage of up to 75 percent.

The solution comes in the form of HortiBot, a computer and GPS equipped weed locating and removing robot which was created by a team of Danish agriculture scientist. This robot is a self propelling robot measuring 3 feet by 3 feet which is flanked by an array of weed extracting attachments depending on the farmer’s needs. Farmers need not worry about the HortiBot as it will be able to find its way around on its own. At the moment the HortiBot cost a whooping $71 000 but prices will go down once a manufacturing partner is found to mass produce the device.
