To put Taiwan on maps, or in this case GPS navigator maps the Tele Atlas Taiwan Co. Ltd has been formed. It is a completely independent entity resulting from the joint venture of Tele Atlas and System & Technology (S&T) Corporation which is aimed at bringing complete digital maps of Taiwan to all the GPS navigators. As a move to achieve this task, Tele Atlas Taiwan has announced the very first mobile mapping van in the Asia Pacific region in the heart of downtown Taipei.
In effect to the agreement, it is understood that S&T will be handing over all its mapping assets as well as existing mapping business providing maps and the data production operation for government and other projects to Tele Atlas Taiwan. On the other hand Tele Atlas is also providing its most advanced map updating process into its operations which includes newly captured data from the roof mounted 360 degrees camera and laser sensors of its first of a kind mobile van. The join venture is indeed a match made in heaven.
