SkyCaddie GPS for Golfers

It seems that GPS is really starting to invade the game of golf as more and more golf courses are getting mapped in order to provide golfers with visualization of the course layout during their game. First it was the golf cart with GPS, and now it is expected that golfers would like to lug around a GPS device with maps of their favorite golf course to give them a better estimation of their shots.

This GPS device for the golf course is not any other GPS device you use on the road but a specialized device from SkyCaddie which is able to tell golfers their distance from the hole as well as existing hazards on the course. The device does not come cheap either, retailing at $329 for the higher SG4 model. Users also have to pay a subscription fees which is at $29.99 for the state of Oregon and $49.99 for the country. What users get is up to 12,000 pre-mapped courses at 10 courses downloads at a time from the SkyCaddie Website.
