Your TomTom GPS navigator may soon be the ultimate solution to your traffic woes. A recent announcement has been made of the Vodafone and TomTom team up which aims to see to the development of a traffic information system that delivers travel time information.
With this working agreement, TomTom’s in-house patented technology will make use of Vodafone UK’s network in order to provide users with spot-on, real-time data on speed and direction of cars which are traveling along all major roads across the UK. TomTom’s chief executive officer, Harold Goddjin comments that traffic mobility in the UK will be redefined with the granularity of information provided by Vodafone to solve everyday navigation needs.
A possible launch date of the service is said to be on the first half of 2008. All current and future TomTom users are also assured that this service will be made available to them and will be beneficial to road authorities and businesses which can use it for traffic control and fleet management.
