The MicroFix has just been approved by the FCC and comes 35% smaller and 25% lighter than its predecessor the TerraFix.
Weighing in at 285 grams with a lanyard and clip for mounting functionality, the MicroFix functions to send out a 406 MHz transmission via the COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system with the user’s unique registered, digitally coded distress signal to enable emergency officials to identify the owner and the location of the distress signal immediately. Furthermore, a built-in 136 dBm highly sensitive GPS receiver will also provide faster acquisition of longitudinal and latitude data to be sent to the rescue centres. Last but not least, the MicroFix simultaneously transmits a signal on the 121.5 MHz SAR Homing frequency to enable rescuers to home in to the exact location. The retail price for the MicroFix is suggested to be $750 which is on a pricier end, but is a worthy price to pay for peace of mind.
