One look at the UMPC001 which is the product of Chinese company XIAOCHAO and one would wonder if Nokia has suddenly decided to add GPS features into their N800 web-tablet functions. Its uncanny resemblance might have many people fooled, but a closer look will reveal the difference in the button positioning and missing Nokia logo.
Looks aside, the UMPC001 is a gadget of its own. It runs on the Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 platform as compared to the N800’s Linux platform, which in my opinion figures very much in platform familiarity for the users. As for the UMPC001’s features, the GPS navigator is an obvious one. Other than that it also offers support for WIFI, Skype, e-mail services and MSN for communication purposes. For fun and games, the UMPC001 supports 3D, Nintendo and Flash games and also a media player for video and audio.
On a more serious note, it also supports hand writing recognition and is able to read all Microsoft Office documents format as well as PDF files. A built in camera with flash completes the whole package as an all-in-one GPS navigator with entertainment and work unit.
