Pranksters have found a way to inject fake RDS messages via FM frequency into your very own GPS device, triggering off different alerts depending on messages. The next time you come across a breaking news via your GPS you would be better off to reconfirm the news via the internet or newspaper before believing what you see. It might be another prank.
The good news is, most GPS gadgets do not yet have traffic integration that the prankster can manipulate. But still, it is a problem that will pose a great threat in future. Remedies has to be taken now in order to prevent this. Imagine pranksters trying to divert all traffic to a certain street using the system, it will cause a major traffic congestion and much inconvenience to drivers and residents. It is better to prepare now rather than later for this problem.
