Magellan series of Maestro units is a new line of product. Its Maestro 4040 is a wide screen model and recently obtained a score of 3.5/5 from PCMag. It is a great buy at $500.
It offers a large number of features for its price segment. Maestro 4040 has an interesting SayWhere text to speech engine which enables it to read out street names and exit ramps. This device comes with maps for all 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico. If you are interested in live traffic condition, you can purchase the optional TrafficKit and subscribe to the traffic-data service. There are no additional wires or antennas.
Maestro can also be enabled to accept voice commands for hands free operation which is very cool. The only downside will be its Bluetooth interface is not as impressive as its other features and also there is no auto zoom function on this device. Apart from that this is a great device.
