Gigabyte has introduced its new gadget called the Gigabyte M704. It’s an UMPC with a 7 inch screen and an embedded GPS receiver. The screen on this one is an actual touch-screen though, meaning you can control everything from the screen. It’s small and it can be slide open for a QWERTY keyboard. There’s also a camera mounted on the front so you can do video conferencing.
QStarz BT-Q1000P just announced that last. The BT-Q1000P is first off a dual function device, as it can be a bluetooth GPS receiver for your PDA or smartphone or you can use it as a standalone travel recorder. It’s quite small and compact with a good battery life. You can grab it up at Amazon.com for only $100, cheap considering all the good reviews.
It’s good news cause the new NOKIA 6650 which is the new addition of t-mobile features an integrated AGPS. There’s no information about how t-mobile’s software runs a GPS system on the Nokia 6650 but there are other leak features such as the 2MP camera with flash, microSD card slot, FM radio. Nokia 6650 has a 2.2″ TFT QVGA screen and supports HSPDA networks. Overall it’s a tempting phone.
We’d heard of the Loco GPS wi-fi system. Now, there’s another GPS system made for the iPhone which is called the G-FI. It’s claimed to be the first wireless accessory to be release for the iPhone and the iPod Touch. The G-FI is still in the process which is the final stage of production from judgmental websites.
Magellan RoadMate 1415 is the new addition to the 1400 series. This model has been lately introduced to the market. The base model RoadMate 1400 was already revealed at CES. But the current one had some additional upgrades such as the text-to-speech and includes maps with full European coverage instead of regional maps.
Microsoft had released a new technology called LucidTouch. The LucidTouch lets you control a handheld GPS system with your fingers that are behind the screen by using a technology called “pseudo-transparency” which lets you see your fingers as a shadow in the screen and navigate the system. Currently the prototype uses a webcam to capture the location of your fingers but you can be sure Microsoft will find a better way to do this when designing an actual product.
This is a GPS module for the iPhone called the LocoGPS. Since the bluetooth on iPhone is reserved for only wireless headset the system actually used WiFi to transmit data between the GPS receiver and iPhone. To make this possible, the GPS receiver integrates a processor, Wi-Fi antenna, and even a microSD card slot to store the maps just to activate the system. The navigation software itself will also be accessed via the WiFi GPS receiver using a web interface.
The Asus M536 will steal the thunder of its previous model-M530W with it’s additional new features such as the touch screen, a biometric finger print reader and a GPS receiver. Kind of different with M536 is the square screen resolution at 320×320 instead of the usual 320×240 pixels which is clearer. Other than that, it has all the feature M530W own. Get it around the price of 550 € during July 2008.
After the rain of Asus R50a, there’s news that Asus is readying another GPS which enabled UMPC called R70a. The R70a is already on display at CeBIT in
Garmin also released another nuvi with a considering price where most of us can afford it. The nuvi 205 is slightly cheaper from the nuvi 205W as the nuvi 205W which costs $255 while the nuvi 205 retail for $213, as the nuvi 205W comes with a wider touch screen.
Overall, a not bad specs for something cheap. Worth awhile getting.
